Production Process of Cold Pressed Diamond Grinding Wheel

 Two commonly used production modes of diamond grinding cup wheel are cold pressing and welding. This article introduces the production process and features of cold pressing.

The production process of cold pressed diamond grinding wheel can be divided into the following parts. 1. Diamond, iron, nickel, cobalt and other metal powder are selected according to the production requirements*. Then we mix binding agents with selected powders, which is often carried out using pendulum motion mixers. (* A number of diamond-related parameters must be taken into consideration to meet the individual requirements of a given application, including diamond type, grit size and concentration. 2. After mixing, the diamond-matrix* mixture and qualified steel core is placed at high temperature for a certain period of time. (* For matrix, an important requirement is to firmly hold the diamond particles and the pressing will help to reach this gold. Under the application conditions the diamond-matrix interactions occur in a variety of forms depending on the size and shape of each individual diamond particle.) 3. After sintering and cooling, we remove burrs and oxides on the diamond grinding wheel surface. Anticorrosive paint on the steel core after polishing. 4. Performance and safety tests are implemented based on EN 13236. Qualified products will be printed, laser marked and packed according to customers’ requirements.

Except for welded diamond cup wheel, cold pressing is the most used production methods for diamond cup wheel. The cold pressed has the advantage of simpler manufacturing process and higher productivity. Lower production cost enables manufacturers to provide customers with more competitive prices, which makes cold pressed diamond grinding wheel more popular.
